I care a lot about using the right words in the right place to tell a good story. The placement of a comma can absorb me for longer than I’d like to admit. But my clients always get clean, compelling prose – delivered on time.
I’ve been working as a freelancer for more than 10 years, producing feature journalism, institutional communications and copywriting for a wide range of clients.
I recently moved with my family (husband plus two daughters) from Toronto to a small town where people have been known to go through the Tim Hortons drive-through on horseback. Yet I’m still close enough to the city to come in for meetings and interviews.

I profile fascinating people, from astronauts and actors to playwrights and social activists. I write about current affairs and social justice, from Indigenous identity and disability to youth empowerment. And I transform research from almost every discipline (including medicine, geography, sociology and history) into accessible, thought-provoking stories.
I produce compelling brochures, eBooks, white papers, case studies, web ads, emails, call scripts, messaging documents and more to help public institutions and private companies reach their target audiences.
I spent the early part of my career as a staff writer and media relations officer at the University of Toronto, then as a freelance copywriter at Queen’s University, so I know how to communicate to internal and external audiences at big, complex institutions. Speeches, executive communications, annual reports, news releases – it’s all about turning key messages into good stories.
Below are a few examples of my recent feature journalism. You can find a more comprehensive list here. For sample copywriting and institutional communications, please contact me.
